TEAM BU Box Lax Champs 23/24 Season
TEAM HARVARD Box Lax Champs 23/24 Season
TEAM UNC Box Lax Champs 23/24 Season
Attention Youth Players (3rd grade - 8th grade),
We will be offering a True Box Lacrosse League for Laxachusetts Youth Players ONLY. With the growing trend of Canadian players being recruited to NCAA programs and more and more college coaches now having their American players participating in box training, we feel this skill set is becoming more and more important.
For the past 12 years the 91 Lacrosse, Baltimore Crabs, Leading Edge NJ, LI Express, Patriot Lacrosse Club all have started box training for their club players.
How significant is box lacrosse to the development of young players? Consider this quote from Denver University coach Bill Tierney:
I believe that box lacrosse gives young people many more opportunities to excel in our game. If I had my choice, I would have every player under the age of twelve play box lacrosse exclusively or at least a majority of the time. The number of touches of the ball and the ability to develop better stick skills in a game of box lacrosse, far surpasses what happens to young people on a 110 x 60 yard field. Learning how to pass and catch in traffic, understanding how to shoot, and developing a sense of physicality are all positive traits developed by the box game."
There are so many great benefits to the box lacrosse game but one very important element is for players to work on creativity. Obviously playing in tight space increases stick skills and shooting on a smaller goal helps players develop into more efficient goal scorers and creates better defensive players because everyone needs to play defense and all shorts sticks requires quicker footwork.
Below is the information and the registration link for the...
Laxachusetts Youth Real Box Lacrosse League:
We will have 3 Divisions
· 3rd/4th Grade Division
· 5th/6th Grade Division
· 7th/8th Grade Division
We will have 4 teams per grade division
Game Times:
3rd / 4th Grade Division: 100pm and 150pm
5th / 6th Grade Division: 240pm and 330pm
7th / 8th Grade Division: 420pm and 510pm
All field players need to use a "short stick" (no long sticks allowed)
Registration will shut off once 60 field players register for each division.
For example: Once 60 players from the 3rd/4th grade division register, that Division will be closed.
We have 2 options when it comes to playing with Goalies or without Goalies: (Last year almost every game was played with Goalies)
1) Any player that wants to play Goalie, we will provide the Box Goalie Gear. Goalies will play for free. You will need to email Dan Chouinard to receive the code to register as a Goalies and bypass payment for league.
2)We also have a very unique lacrosse goal that we designed and used last year that was a huge success.
We designed and built a modified Box Goal that has 4 corners with netting. Shooting the ball into one of these 4 corners is only way to score in game. If you miss one of the 4 corners, the ball will simply pass through the cage, bounce off the wall and ball is still live. The goal does not have netting, only the 4 corners. This is an incredible tool on teaching players how to shoot accurately and become better finishers.
With this league limited to only Laxachusetts Lacrosse Players, this is the most elite level youth league in Massachusetts.
All games will be coaches by one of our Laxachusetts Coaches.
The game will be played 5 on 5 (Real Indoor Style), which is much faster than the indoor leagues that are with outdoor rules.
No matter what position you play (Attack. Midfield, Defense, Goalie) you should play in this league. Playing box lacrosse is the best way to build stick skills (and this is for every player at every position). It also teaches players to play better defense and to play with their feet because they do not have a long pole.

Registration is $395.00 per player, which covers the indoor time, officials, scorekeeper, web site administration, and coaches pay.
